Lyon Polymer Science and Engineering (LPSE)

« Innovating for smarter, greener polymers »

Our mission

Lyon Polymer Science and Engineering (LPSE) is a consortium composed of academic laboratories, industrial partners, research platforms and institutions, with the aim of developing a collaborative and innovative research community dedicated to addressing the scientific and technical challenges of polymer materials and their recycling.

More specifically, it serves as a space for sharing and exchange, enabling the flexible and agile development of skills, partnerships, new practices, and training.

5 Technical Themes

Cicular economy, recycling, sustainability

Today, many companies place sustainability at the top of their priorities. From reducing CO₂ emissions to waste elimination and recycling, from material efficiency to eco-design, this theme is opening up

Polymerisation (Chemistries, Catalysis and Processes)

Polymerisation (and depolymerisation) are essential processes for both the synthesis and chemical recycling of polymers. In most cases, research focuses on yield, selectivity, and purity, aiming to avoid the formation

Extrusion and Complex Blends

The ambition of this research theme is to develop new technical and high-performance materials to meet the diverse needs of application sectors such as healthcare, energy, transport (automotive and aerospace),

Online Analysis

Online analysis is a cross-cutting theme that underpins polymerisation, extrusion and complex blending, as well as circular economy initiatives. Through continuous monitoring of chemical, physico-chemical and physical parameters, we can

Theories, Predictive Modelling and Digitalisation

Theories in the field of polymer materials focus on understanding their properties in relation to molecular structure. Predictive modelling uses scientific approaches to simulate and anticipate material behaviour under various
